Brenda Sperduti
Dear Friends and Supporters,
First and foremost I want to thank you – my family, friends, volunteers, donors and everyone who cast a vote for me in one or both of this year’s City Council elections. We worked really hard to win enough votes to get to the runoff. Unfortunately, we were outmuscled in the end.
I have learned so much over these last 12 months. About our community. About the reality of politics. And, about my resolve to make things better.
I learned how important it is to listen to everyone, in every neighborhood, from all walks of life. There are so
many stories out there. Stories about people who have lived in their neighborhoods for 30, 40, 50 years. People who are struggling in this economy but hold onto the promise of the future. Young people who have returned to the neighborhoods they grew up in because they want to teach the value of community commitment to their own children.
I learned that there is great power and promise in our youth. Given a cause they care about and the encouragement to vision the future, our young people will mobilize and work hard for the community. I learned about the value of friendships and community engagement. Each of us has the power to befriend neighbors, to spark their interest and participation in activities that help make our neighborhoods better.
I learned that it is always best to hold fast to personal integrity. Contrary to what others did to put their opponents in a bad light, we stayed on the high road demonstrating how a smart campaign can and should be run.
I chose to engage in this campaign nearly a year ago because of my positive outlook for the future and personal resolve to change things for the better. I set out to challenge the status quo, to support neighborhoods, women and families and to shine a light on how things get done at City Hall.
While we fell short in the runoff, I am committed to continuing my work to make our City and our State better for our
children and their children. Whether my path ahead leads to public office, the non-profit, public or private sector, I will work passionately on things that matter most to the women, children and families of our community.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous support of my campaign. Every one of you is truly appreciated. I will be forever grateful.
Sincerely,
P.S. We were left with some campaign debt that we need to pay off. If you would consider making a small contribution before Dec 15 I would be very grateful. Contribute HERE.
